Do Not Try To Impress Those Around You When Selling On The Phone

Writen by Lance Winslow

Have you noticed that often you might be sitting in a public place such as a coffee shop and someone else is on the phone and they are trying to use big words to impress everyone around them that is listening to them? Have you ever been on the phone with someone else and noticed that their conversation does not really relate to the subject at hand? It is obvious that they are trying to impress people that are around them while they're talking on the phone. This is really aggravating for people who they are talking to.

It also becomes rather obvious to those who are over hearing or listening to the person talking on the phone and it is obvious what they're trying to do. Therefore they start looking like an imbecile to those in the coffee shop and those they are talking to also feel disrespected, as if they do not matter.

Do not try to impress those around you when you are selling on the telephone, if you are talking in a public place. First, you should not do that anyway and second it is silly. It generally will not work and you need to concentrate on the actual phone conversation or you are liable to lose a very good customer. The customer will most likely think you are phony and fake and not wish to do business with you.

This happens so often and it starts with teenagers trying to impress their friends. It is interesting that people in the sales community still do this as adults. It is kind of pathetic don't you think? Please consider this in 2006.
